A Big Old Life Update

A Big Old Life Update

So it's been quite a while since I've posted on here, mostly because life this year has been pretty crazy!  While I really wanted to put more effort into this blog in 2017, tbh I don't really know what I was thinking.  2017 has been mental (and it's only September)!  In a major move to change this internet silence, I thought I would write this little update, mostly so you are up to date with me but also so that I can catch up and remember everything that has already happened this year.

Let It Go

Let It Go

Tadaaa! As I hope you have noticed (considering it took me HOURS) we have a whole new look over on this little space of the internet!  New year and all that!  This little makeover was actually a plan I had for the start of the year, which I have followed through with, hurray!  Which leads me very well into the subject of this blogpost (nice link, yes I know).  Sometimes things don't go to plan.

I am a notorious control freak, my radio (and all around) soulmate, the beautiful, amazing, Alice knows this particularly well as I'm a nightmare in the studio.  She has officially mastered the tech part of the job but I have heart palpitations being on the non-controlling side of the desk.  Giving up control is hard.  And when a plan goes array or your life derails from the track you thought you were on it's pretty scary!

My second year of university was a mess for many reasons, so when I came back to my final term of lectures in January, I was ready.  Ready to have fun and make the most of the short time I've got left here (ahhh!).  I had a pretty specific plan of how this term was going to go.  And as you've probably all realised by now, many of those plans have not been followed through!

But what I've come to realise is that plans are great, but most of them are impossible.  Having goals and dreams is necessary, but having such a specific, unchangeable plan about how you're going to get there just doesn't work.  I was determined to be so happy at the start of this term, but things happen that are out of your control.  Unpredictable things happen and learning to deal with them and accept them and change your plan accordingly is where the real challenge lies.  Whilst this term didn't start as happy as I wanted, accepting that and not pretending helps.

To cheer up this post a little, happy things can come around unexpectedly as well!  And that can still be scary.  When something or someone unexpectedly comes into your life it can be intimidating adjusting your life to fit them in.  It makes you feel vulnerable that your plan has changed because of that thing, whether it's a person or a new opportunity.  These can be some of the best things.

Don't be afraid to change your plan to let something else in, it could be better then you ever imagined.

So from now on I will be focusing on setting goals rather than the journey of how I'm going to get there.

Much Love!

To Inspire

To Inspire

When I began sixth form and the intimidating life of a-levels I was obsessed with what job I wanted to do.  What I wanted to be when I grew up.  I was 16 and I wanted to be a writer.  I was 16 and I wanted to be a lawyer.  I was 16 and I wanted to be an actress.  It's the classic question thats asked in all small talk ever.  What do you want to be when you grow up?

Why it's Great to be Single at Christmas

Why it's Great to be Single at Christmas

Happy Christmas Eve!  The Christmas season is reaching its peak and makes me so excited I can barely contain it!  As I have probably told you all and plugged way too much on all of my social media, my housemate Alice and I have a radio show on Insanity Radio where we talk about all things dating.  One of our shows on the lead up to Christmas was based around being single throughout the festive season.  While some people say that 'tis the season for relationships, there are always positives for being a strong, independent, single woman (or man)!

Etsy Christmas Gift Guide for Her on a student budget

Etsy Christmas Gift Guide for Her on a student budget

Buying presents at Christmas time can be a real struggle.  I am one of those people who can find the perfect thing for my friends and family at random times of the year but as soon as it gets to Christmas or their birthday it's the day before and I'm freaking out!  Organisation is just not my thing.  This is one of the reasons I rely heavily on online shopping for Christmas presents.  I can search easily for things I know people will like and there's so much inspiration online.  One of my key shopping sites this year has been Etsy.  I LOVE IT!

Etsy has so many beautiful things and I know no one else is going to buy the same thing (this is not an ad)!  So here is my Etsy christmas gift guide of things I would like (hint hint mum) or things I think my friends and family will love.  I've found lots of perfect gifts for the girls in your life and all on a poor students budget!  This post is aimed for people in the UK as most/all of these gifts should arrive in time for the big day but please check before your bankcard takes the hit!
